Pilgrim’s to Provide Feed My People Food Bank with Refrigerated Truck, Driver Services as Part of Hometown Strong Initiative
Today, Pilgrim’s Arcadia announced a partnership with Feed My People Food Bank to provide a refrigerated truck and driver services to transport food to more than a dozen local hunger relief programs across surrounding counties in west central Wisconsin. The partnership will help make it possible to reach thousands of families in need every month.
In October 2020, Pilgrim’s announced a $230,000 investment in Arcadia, Wis., to support the community’s future through the company’s Hometown Strong program. Pilgrim’s has been working with local leaders to determine where the funds could best help meet immediate and longer-term community needs.
“In addition to donating thousands of servings of chicken to our Wisconsin neighbors in 2020, Pilgrim’s Arcadia is proud to support the Feed My People Food Bank,” said Bill Petz, Pilgrim’s Arcadia complex manager. “We take seriously our role in helping to alleviate hunger in our communities and are pleased to be able to provide better and more reliable distribution to local food pantries.”
“Feed My People is very grateful for the commitment Pilgrim’s is making in our local communities,” said Nancy Renkes, executive director, Feed My People. “This new truck will allow us to reach more families with fresh groceries who might otherwise go without due to limited resources and transportation barriers. By partnering with us today to improve health and fuel hope, Pilgrim’s investment will be felt far into the future.”
The Pilgrim’s Arcadia facility employs more than 470 people with an annual payroll of $23 million. The facility supports nearly 150 growers.
Pilgrim’s anchors dozens of rural communities – operating more than 30 meat poultry and prepared foods facilities and employing 31,000-plus people in the United States. Nationally, the Hometown Strong initiative is a $20 million investment from Pilgrim’s, which is part of a $50 million nationwide contribution from JBS USA.
