Today, Pilgrim’s and the City of De Queen hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling completion of a $480,000 Hometown Strong investment to fund a state-of-the-art splash pad at Herman Dierks Memorial Park.

“We are proud to use our Hometown Strong investment to help bring families together and unveil this new splash pad just ahead of the summer,” said Eddie Halter, Pilgrim’s De Queen/Nashville Complex Manager. “We hope this investment brings joy to families and children in our community, and we’re proud to work with the city to bring this splash pad to life.”

“The City of De Queen is excited to announce the grand opening of the new splash pad facility located in Herman Dierks Park. This project would not have been possible without the support of Pilgrim’s, who continues to invest in and show support for in the communities they serve,” said De Queen Mayor Jeff Brown. “We look forward to seeing the fun that families will enjoy together for many years to come.”

Through Hometown Strong, Pilgrim’s previously announced a $715,000 investment in the community and has since worked closely with local leaders to identify where the funds can best help meet immediate and longer-term community needs. Of that total, Pilgrim’s also invested $225,000 to build a walking trail on the Sevier County Medical Center campus.

The Pilgrim’s De Queen/Nashville facility employs more than 1,400 people with an annual payroll of more than $53 million. The facility supports 238 growers, paying them more than $36 million per year for their chickens.

Pilgrim’s anchors dozens of rural communities – operating more than 30 meat poultry and prepared foods facilities and employing 31,000-plus people in the United States. Nationally, the Hometown Strong initiative is a $20 million investment from Pilgrim’s, which is part of a $100 million nationwide contribution from JBS USA.
